Imagine Dragons Its Time
the fact that one of the most commercially successful bands in the genre has a grandiose indie sensibility is a rarity, but imagine dragons are one of the few musical acts to embrace this. sure, they're part of the pop machine, but their sound recalls the likes of elliott smith, the strokes, and the indie rockers of the 80s and 90s. imagine dragons are similar to hip-hop acts such as diddy, jay-z, and justin timberlake (because they're all friendly and love to party), and they're just as good at it.
Imagine Dragons Its Time
throwing fans into a frenzy with their first single, its time, the las vegas-bred alt rock band released their first ep, night visions, in 2011. today, the band released their first full-length album, night visions, on sept. 4. the first single is a cover of trains hey, soul sister, with the actual song only coming in at the end of the second chorus. its kind of an anthem of female empowerment, drummer daniel platzman told vh1. when we recorded it, we were in a bit of a slump. we were tired of being together, we were struggling a little bit creatively and we just wanted to go back to our roots, which is the kind of music we love to listen to.
opening track it's time is a serene acoustic ballad, where dan reynolds sings of a failed relationship in his voice, "love fades, this break up's so hard to take / but i know it's right because i felt the same way." the song draws inspiration from reynolds' romantic breakup with singer/songwriter kacey musgraves (who covered the song on her 2011 ep, pageant material).
its time is a song that means that when the music stops, the party is over. its meaning means that they will stop performing and be in the real world. it's time to be the same as you were at the beginning of the song. dan reynolds(lead singer) says he's being honest and that he's being himself. he could be an inspiration for others. the song is about someone leaving college so they can be the person they want to be. they want to be the kind of person they want to be. you have to be yourself. be yourself. don't be afraid to be yourself. its time to stop playing and become what you want to be. its time is about someone leaving college. its time to be the person you are. they can have everything that they want to have, just be themselves. they can do whatever they want to do. that's the meaning of the song.
