Turkey is an excellent destination for cheap holidays, served well year round by budget and low cost airlines. The best time of year get a cheap turkey holiday is in the off-peak season in April, May or October, when there are less tourists but Turkey still enjoys great holiday weather. During these periods Turkey hosts a variety of cultural festivals and entertainments so that even holidaymakers on a tight budget can enjoy a fantastic cheap turkey holiday.


Turkish people who live by the coast make money mainly between the months of April and October (as in the Balkans or other countries of the Mediterranean region). And their income depends on tourism. The mistake tourists make when going on holidays to Turkey is sticking to the most famous and touristy activities. Joining the same organized tours as everyone else recommends is great but often for a more in-depth experience it is better to go where locals go.


Regarding the visa, it also depends on which country you are applying from. If from the US, it usually takes up to 3 days to get your visa, sometimes it can take up to a week if you apply during the day off or holidays.


Hi Anya. I must spend 3 weeks out of my country (tax purposes) and thought I want to choose a cheap seaside area in Turkey to do camping (or book into accommodation if it is not too costly). I am a lover of the ocean and would quite easily spend my days in one place, swimming and sipping beers. Where would you recommend?


Antalya is a great spot for finding free or cheap attractions to see. Make sure to add the old town of Antalya or Kaleici to the top of your itinerary. This beautiful neighbourhood is full of stunning architecture and lots of little streets to explore, all for free!


Istanbul is such a fantastic multi-cultural city, with so many amazing things to do on not just one, but two continents. For budget travellers, visiting Istanbul can also be a cheap but authentic experience.
